Economy Update: Job Losses in this Credit Crisis
Nonfarm payroll numbers came out today concludes 2008 job loss to 2.6 million. Bill Gross stated on CNBC this morning that additional 3 million jobs may still go away in the future.

2/4/2009 Update: According to BLS, 598,000 jobs lost in January, unemployment rate has grown to 7.6%
3/6/2009 Update: According to BLS, 651,000 jobs were lost in February, unemployment rate rose to 8.1%, 4.4 million job losses in total since start of crisis in December 2007. Job losses in December was revised from 577,000 to 681,000, and January was revised from 598,000 to 655,000.

4/3/2009 Update: According to BLS, 663,000 jobs were lost in March, unemployment rate rose to 8.5%, which brings total number of job losses to ~5 million since Dec 2007.
